The first thing I want to learn about someone when I meet them is their name. Names are important not only because they distinguish us from other people, but also because they identify who we are. Think about the nick names we give one another. Nick names add color to identify further the personality of friends...their character. Discovering all the names people have given God is a great study. I guess we could never uncover all the names it would take to identify His greatness. Names like Jehovah Rohi, which means "the Lord is my shephard," and Jehova Jireh, which means "the Lord is my provider" point to His ability to meet all of our needs and His desire to be our guide. So often in life we come to a crossroads and ask ourselves questions like: "Should I leave this job?" or "Should I build this project?" More often than not we rely on our own intuition and strength to make the decisions, but these are the times that we should turn to the names of God. When I look to the names of the Lord, I am reminded of His power and strength...His desire to guide you and me down the right path in life. So call on the name of the Lord whenever you have a question in life. Recognize the power of your guiding shephard to lead you down the right path. The Holy Spirit returned an echo to my heart "TrustandObey" all as one word and it was the voice of safety. "Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forever more"-Psalm 113:2.
